What is shock absorbent material?

Most customers are unaware that OrthoSole insoles have shock absorbent material built into them. However, when we inform them of this fact, the first question that comes to their minds is usually “What is it, and why is it in the insoles?” Shock absorbent refers to a material or device that is able to absorb and dissipate the energy of a sudden impact or vibration. Visualize jumping into the air and landing back on the ground to understand what a sudden impact feels like.

Materials, which are made to absorbed the energy caused by sudden impact can prevent damage to the object or surface that the impact occurs on, as well as protect the user from the effects of the impact. For instance, walking or running can expose the feet to sudden impact energy, leading to stress and pressure on both feet and joints. This can ultimately increase the risk of injury or worsening pre-existing conditions. However, by placing impact-absorbing materials under your feet, the risk of suffering from the impact can be minimized.

For individuals who engage in high-impact activities like football, jumping, and other sports, shock-absorbing insoles can provide much-needed support. These activities can place a great deal of stress on the feet and knees, leading to wear and tear and potentially causing injuries. By utilizing shock-absorbing insoles, athletes can reduce the risk of injury and continue to participate in these demanding activities on a weekly basis.

Have you ever wondered what makes OrthoSole insoles so shock absorbent? It’s all thanks to a special material called Poron®️, included in some of our insoles. The Max Cushion insoles have the thickest layer of Poron®️, while the Thin Style insoles have the same amount but with a flatter appearance to better fit into snugger shoes.
