Several members of the team from OrthoSole HQ will be trekking through the UK’s capital city in the New Year to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation.
A brief introduction to the British Heart Foundation
Since it was originally founded in 1961, this high-profile organisation has already helped halve the number of people who die from heart and circulatory diseases in the UK.
But with hundreds of people still losing their lives to heart-related conditions every single day, there’s much more work to be done to develop new treatments and discover new cures. That’s why the initiative funds over £100 million of research every year into heart disease and the factors that cause it.
The charity also provides advice, support and useful resources for anyone faced with – or affected by – heart disease.
Who’s walking – and why?
Director Lorraine Irani, Business Development Manager Alison Wilson and Head of Sales (Heath & Safety – Wellbeing) Mike Kennedy will all be arriving in Southwark bright and early on Sunday 13th January 2019 for an energising 20km walk that will see them meandering around some of London’s best-known landmarks.
Danielle Haley from Indy Consultancy Ltd, OrthoSole’s content marketing partner, will also be joining the team on the day.
So why have so many of the key players behind the OrthoSole brand decided to dust off their walking boots and take on the challenge?
“The British Heart Foundation is a charity that’s close to all our hearts,” explains Lorraine. “Heart disease and circulatory conditions kill one in four people in the UK, which means we all know someone who has been affected by one of these devastating conditions and can understand first-hand the devastating impact these illnesses can have on our loved ones.
“We jumped at the opportunity to show our support for the charity’s brilliant work – and we’re looking forward to burning off a few Christmas calories while we’re at it!”, she adds.
All those taking part will receive a special Winter Walk Medal, and participants who complete the course – which works out a little over 12 miles long – will be treated to a hot buffet when they return to base camp.
