If you’re suffering with pain in your lower or upper back, your feet could be the source of your discomfort!
Add extra support from the bottom up with OrthoSole’s orthotic insoles for back pain. These products work to cushion the metatarsal bones in the soles of the feet, thereby reducing the amount of stress placed on the spine and pelvis.
What causes back pain?
Back pain affects up to a third of adults in the UK every year – and it’s thought that up to 80% of people will experience this kind of localised pain at least once in their lives!
Sprains and other injuries aside, back pain can be a symptom of more severe problems such as sciatica, arthritis, abnormal spine curvatures and herniated or ruptured discs.
However, most of the time back pain comes about as a result of:
- A musculoskeletal imbalance;
- An irregular gait; or
- A sprain after heavy lifting.
With rest, ice, compression and elevation – and some over-the-counter pain relief – the discomfort will often go away on its own. If it doesn’t, you may need to try other treatment options – including wearing our insoles for back pain!

How can insoles help to relieve lower back pain?
By providing better support to the feet, and enhanced stability to the ankle joints, orthotic inserts can help to correct misalignments that lead to stiffness and soreness in the lower back.
They are particularly effective at correcting overpronation (where the foot continually rolls inwards during movement) and supination (where the foot rolls outwards); both of these can lead to poor posture and an irregular walking pattern, and these two issues can combine to place too much strain on your back muscles.
If you’re already suffering from back pain, you should notice reduced pain from the moment you slip our insoles into your shoes. If your pain isn’t yet unbearable, but you’re concerned that you’re at risk of developing sore, weak muscles in this area, wearing OrthoSole insoles for back pain relief will help to prevent unnecessary discomfort further down the line.
What about pain elsewhere?
The entire musculoskeletal system is interconnected – so providing extra support to your lower limbs will lead to better alignment and improved posture elsewhere in the body, which in turn will help to relieve any lingering pain in the upper back and shoulders.
